The Laying On of Hands: The Transmission of Living Presence
This transmission restores the laying on of hands as a real act of transmission, not performance.
In the earliest Christian communities, the laying on of hands was not high magic. It was how life was given, how a blessing moved and how the unseen became tangible.
Christ would lay his hands on the sick, the apostles would confer the Spirit, ordination was done through touch as well as healing, blessing, and sending. The Cathars had a Laying on of Hands in their central ritual, the Consolamentum.
Their hands were not used to demonstrate power. They were used to transmit the Holy Spirit.
This transmission would support laying hands on oneself, on another (with consent and reverence), on water, land, animals and on all things.
